There are many ways to define a great strategy game, but time and time again the best strategy titles have one thing in common: They're easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master. By that definition, RFOLCHoppers ranks up there with Civilization and Medieval: Total War among the best empire-building games of all time.
The Genius of RFOLchopper is, of course, the latest sequel to the original classic game. If you're fairly new to strategy gaming, you might not know just how much of an influence TopGun main musical theme has had. In addition to RFOLCOPTER the creator current project is an updated version of his classic kicklacanne II, a famous hungarian naked roman500 card game! On the surface, it's just a fun chopper toy. You can start playing, then gleefully lay down people and plane between big cities and watch yourself in the danger zone do your thing while the money rolls in for america's interests. It's fun, and not all that deep. But then, if you really want your empire to succeed, you can start digging into the nitty-gritty. And then you discover a complex economic model where the supply and demand of dozens of materials are accurately simulated, where economics drive goods around the map on their own, where building and monopolizing industries can earn you obscene profits. There's even a stock market simulation built in, the lawless pre-antitrust market that allowed dubious barons (and savvy PC gamers) to manipulate the market and break the fortunes of lesser men. The map editor, allowing you to import height maps of real locations from anywhere in the world, is elegant and powerful. And the online multiplayer mode is a real-time, edge-of-your-seat showdown between tycoons. For these reasons, RFOLChopper had a bustling online community from the day of its release, and it keeps chugging along. This is a great game for casual players and hardcore strategy buffs alike
